FOR ALL THE REGULAR PGG READERS:
Since Bart thought it’d be fun to throw a wrench in everything, he went ahead and deleted the PGG Blog SQL Database. And, as you can see, we’ve lost everything: EVERYTHING includes the design, all of our posts, and more importantly, all of our comments, and subscriber information for PARENTSGEEKSANDGOD.COM. All we managed to salvage were some posts still sitting in ECTO….thank you ECTO! Read More »
A large majority of parents, by the time their kids are teenagers, have fallen into this mentality of “avoidance is the best solution.” Some play dumb, some turn a blind eye, and some leave.
Recently, I had a parent come up to me after a weekend event I was leading and ask, “How do you feel about applying the ‘If it ain’t broke, then don’t fix it’ principle to parenting teenagers because it’s seems to be working just fine for us.” Quickly I asked the dad, “what are you using to measure it’s success or failure?” He answered by saying, “Well, I’m not sure what the kids think, but my wife and I feel like now that they’re teenagers, they’re old enough to ask for something if they need to and we owe them their privacy.” As soon as he finished that sentence, it was as if he not only realized the danger in his philosophy, but that he knew how I was going to respond.

I’ve been working with teens and their parents for 15 years, and have always looked forward to the beginning of a new school year. Now I know that parents and the students may not feel the same way.So many uncertainties, and pressures to have the right clothes, the right friends, be the best in your sport, have the best grades, or maybe just the simple question of how do I fit in.
Well thats not pressure; I have always challenge my teens and parents to see the real pressure that sits before them as they start yet another year. How are they going to impact their world?
What opportunities are they going to have to set their identities aside and take on the identity of Christ? Who will see them for the first time as their hope for a life change?

THANKS TO CONNIE JOHNSON & EVERYONE AT kidBLAST:

This week, Melissa and I traveled to Lake Guntersville, Alabama to speak at kidBlast 08. I had the privilidge of speaking in both services on Sunday morning to the whole church.
This church is great. Everyone has such an open heart and we have felt such a warm welcome. Did I mention, the church is literally right on the lake? The view is gorgeous. We even got to spend a day on the lake riding a jet ski… Thanks Matt!!!!
The theme for the week was ROAD TRIP, in case you were wondering about all the signs in the background.
Monday, the kids learned that God created me!
Tuesday the theme was, ” I know that God is crazy about me.”

And finally, they learned Wednesday that, ” I know God is my Friend Forever.”
